Application Process


All Region Cohort

We are pleased that you have made the decision to apply to the School Counselor Certification (SCC) program.

Application Session opens January 22, 2018
Application Session closes April 6, 2018

Information Sessions:

  • February 15, 2018
  • March 21, 2018 at 5:30 pm
  • Location: Region 13 Education Service Center, 5701 Springdale Road, Austin, TX 78723

Application Process:

Step 1:

  • Complete the Region 13 Online Application (pay $100 fee)
  • Submit Service Record showing a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience.
  • Submit official transcripts showing Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree. (Sealed and unopened from the university)
  • Submit last three (3) Evaluation/Appraisal documents (Summative PDAS and/or T-TESS).
  • Submit a copy of your current Texas teaching certificate.
  • Submit Three (3) professional recommendations (one from current supervisor).  All recommendations must be e-mailed to Mary Retzloff at mary.retzloff@esc13.txed.net

Please remember, your application will not be processed until we have received all of the above listed items and your fee has been paid.

Step 2:  April 11 and 12, 2018

  • Interviews scheduled with Region 13 for Qualified Applicants.

Step 3:  April 18, 2018

  • All applicants notified about admission status by email.

Please Do Not begin the application if you do not have the following information at this time:

  • Social Security Number or Resident Alien number (this will serve as your application reference number).
  • Your Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Education history including institutions attended, dates, and grade point average
  • Employment history (beginning with most recent), including supervisor's name and current contact information, and dates of employment.
  • Visa, Master Card, or check routing information for $100 application fee.

Once you have submitted your application, you can check on the status of your application and documents received in the Registrar's office by returning to the main menu in the application and clicking on the View App Status link.
