At Risk

The At-Risk Services team at Region 13 helps school districts implement evidence-based programs that address mental health, substance abuse, suicide prevention, and promote positive youth development. We provide resources, workshops, and a network designed to help your struggling students improve their quality of life.


The At-Risk Criteria includes a wide variety of students, including those that are:

  • Not making adequate academic progress as indicated by assessment instruments, grades, or retention.
  • Pregnant or parenting
  • Placed in a DAEP/AEP or expelled
  • Involved with the Juvenile Justice System
  • Identified as previously dropped out
  • Of limited English proficency 
  • In the custody or care of the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, or have been referred to the department
  • Homeless
  • Residing in a residential placement facility, substance abuse facility, emergency shelter, psychiatric hospital, halfway house, or foster group home.
