Region 13 Counselor Logo

The Counselor Support Services Team provides high quality training and professional development, technical assistance, consultation services, information dissemination and communication to school district personnel in the Region 13 ESC area and throughout the state in the areas of counseling and mental health.  Our goal is to develop and nurture healthy learning communities across Region 13 by guiding and supporting school counselors, educators, mental health professionals, and other school staff members designated to ensure the health, wellness, and academic success of the students in Region 13.

Counselor Support Services offers expert assistance, information updates, including legislative and legal mandates, and support for initiatives in public education that enhance student development and academic achievement. Professional development opportunities are specifically designed to support counselor needs relating to college and career readiness, research-based best-practices, data driven programs, and research findings related to identifying and understanding students’ emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.

If you have not already done so, please join our email list to receive continual updates about workshops, in-district professional development opportunities, CEU offerings for mental health professionals, and resources available to enhance your counseling program.

Counselor Cooperative

The Counselor Support Services Cooperative is designed to provide districts and campuses with the latest state-level information, targeted professional development, and individualized support services to meet the unique needs related to a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program.

The Counselor Cooperative provides the opportunity for school counselors of all levels across the Region 13 area to share and build a network of support with fellow counselors and attend presentations featuring ESC 13 staff, along with other experts in the field. While the workshops will offer concrete skills, such as how to build a TCA/ASCA Model Program and how to collect and utilize data to improve and advocate for a counseling program - this will also be a place counselors can seek guidance from the Region 13 ESC support staff and learn, grow and connect with other counselors in the region.

New Counselor Institute

Training, Mentoring, and Support for New Counselors

The Region 13 New Counselor Institute (NCI) is limited to 30 counselors per cohort so that a collaborative, empowering,
supportive, and effective model can be developed for counselors who are new to the profession. The NCI is a place where
participants can seek guidance while collaborating and networking with other new counselors in the region. Through this
empowering learning opportunity, counselors will not only leave with a multitude of concrete tools to build a successful
program, but they will also leave feeling supported and inspired.

Through the Region 13 New Counselor Institute (NCI), we hope to increase retention in school counselors. Studies show
increasing levels of burnout in school counselors due to the challenges and job demands associated with their profession.
The institute will provide support to new counselors and help campuses/districts grow their counseling programs so that
