School Board Training

The Texas Education Code, Section 11.159, states a) The State Board of Education shall provide a training course for independent school district trustees to be offered by the regional education service centers. Registration for a course must be open to any interested person, including current and prospective board members . . . b) . . . training required by the State Board of Education.

Level I: Texas Education Code Orientation is a three hour training to acquaint new school board members with Senate Bill 1 and any subsequent Legislative changes.
Cost: $50 per participant at regional cluster sites, $60 per out-of-region participant

Level I: Legislative Update is training to familiarize veteran school board members with Texas Education Code changes stemming from the most recent actions of the Texas Legislature.

Level II: Three hour Team Building training to improve existing team skills and develop board/superintendent leadership abilities. Designed for full board participation and including annual team development needs assessment. Level II training can be customized to meet the needs of individual board/superintendent teams.

Level III: Customized training based upon member developmental needs in the areas of Vision, Structure, Accountability, Goal Setting and Roles and Responsibilities.
